Developing the Child's Plan

1 day course: 10.00am - 4.30pm

What can I expect from this training?

By the end of this training, staff should:
  • Understand the roles, functions and skills required from the named person/lead professional
  • Understand the importance of relevance, proportionality and need to know in terms of recording and data sharing
  • Appreciate the need to maintain clean, current data at all times
  • Understand when a Child’s Plan is needed and the components that make up the plan
  • Be confident in developing and recording a Child’s Plan
  • Be confident in attending and leading Child’s Plan Meetings
  • Be confident in monitoring and reviewing the Plan
Who should attend?

All staff who have regular contact with children and young people and/or their family members should attend this training.

In particular those staff who:
• Have regular contact with vulnerable children and families
• Carry out direct work with children and families
• Contribute to assessments of children, including assessment of risk
• May be required to support the development and delivery of the Child’s Plan

Pre-requisites:

Staff must have attended the Programme 2 - Highland Practice Model course (or Identifying and Responding to Concerns course) within the last 3 years.
