Parenting Support
There are currently two courses on offer in this section:
- Baby Massage Instructor Training, Inverness
Three day course which equips those working with parents/carers of 0-1s with the skills to demonstrate baby massage techniques. Feedback shows that massage can aid sleep, relieve symptoms of colic and constipation and relax both infant and parent. Instruction can be offered 1:1 or in groups.
Inverness Dates 2011:
March 10 & 11 and June 6;
March 24 & 25 and 3rd date to be confirmed
Target group: Public health nurses/health visitors, other health staff, children's service workers, others working on early intervention with parents of 0-1s experiencing difficulties.
Please note, applicants without a nursing background will be required to learn a short additional paper on basic physiology

- Solihull Approach - The first 5 years
Two day foundation course introducing 'The Solihull Approach' method of working with parents and carers of 0-5 year olds.
The emphasis is on enabling parents to identify clearly their problem and assisting them to find practical solutions. More information about this method is available here
